JKH Consulting is an independent retail property advisory firm acting exclusively for retail tenants across South Africa.
We advise national, regional, and growing retail brands on where to trade, what to pay, and how to structure leases that remain commercially sound over the life of the lease.
Our role is not transactional.
We exist to support clear, informed property decisions — grounded in experience, data, and commercial judgement.
What We Do
Retail property decisions have long-term consequences.
A lease signed today affects profitability, flexibility, and risk exposure for years to come. Poor decisions compound quietly across a portfolio.
JKH Consulting provides retailers with independent, senior-level advice across the full retail property lifecycle — from network planning and new stores to lease renewals, restructurings, relocations, and exits.
We focus on sustainable outcomes, not short-term deals.
How We Think
We approach retail property as a commercial discipline.
Rental is only one variable. Store size, location, lease structure, escalation profiles, flexibility, and exit risk all matter — particularly when viewed across an entire portfolio.

Founder-Led, Experience-Driven
JKH Consulting was founded by Jonathan Kingsley-Hall in 2004.
Before establishing the firm, Jonathan spent several years leading retail property strategy within a franchise development consultancy and negotiating leases through a national tenants’ association. This experience — on both the advisory and advocacy sides of retail property — shaped the firm’s tenant-aligned, commercially grounded approach.
JKH Consulting was established to help retail brands grow smartly: choosing the right locations, paying sustainable rentals, and structuring leases that protect the business over time.
The firm remains founder-led, with senior involvement in every client relationship.
